Every order ships as a matched two-piece set. Marine-grade vinyl rated for 7+ years outdoors, UV-stable, saltwater-tested, and precision-cut to meet your state's exact size and format requirements.
Registration number decals are required by federal and state law. Our custom pairs ensure you're always inspection-ready — formatted, sized, and finished to spec.
Federal law (33 CFR Part 173) and all 50 state regulations require registration numbers to appear on BOTH sides of the forward hull. Displaying only one side can result in fines, failed inspections, or being ordered off the water. Our sets ship as a matched two-piece pair — ready to apply port and starboard.
Registration numbers follow the format: state abbreviation + up to 4 digits + up to 2 letters (e.g., FL 1234 AB). Numbers and letters must be plain block or Gothic style, in a color that contrasts with the hull. Our customizer enforces the correct format for your state automatically.
Most states mandate a minimum character height of 3 inches (76 mm) for vessels under 40 ft. Some coastal states — including Florida, California, and Texas — require 4-inch minimum characters on certain vessel classes. Select your state in the customizer and we'll auto-apply the correct sizing.
Many waterway authorities recommend — and some now require — reflective registration numbers for vessels operated after sunset. Our reflective marine vinyl meets Coast Guard retro-reflectivity standards.

Our registration number pairs are cut from the same material used for commercial vessel markings — not the hobby-grade vinyl found in big-box craft stores.
Calendered vinyl deforms and peels over time. Our cast vinyl conforms to curved hull surfaces and stays bonded through years of wet/dry cycles.
Proprietary UV inhibitors lock color integrity for 7+ years without chalking, fading, or brittleness — even on boats trailered in direct sunlight.
Triple-sealed edges and a permanent acrylic adhesive layer prevent water wicking and delamination in marine environments.
Tested to 65+ mph airflow equivalent. Edges won't lift on high-performance runabouts or offshore vessels under full throttle.
All colors available in standard and reflective finish. Select during customization.

Standard minimum is 3-inch character height. We recommend 4-inch for larger or faster boats for better visibility and to future-proof against tightening state regulations.
| Boat Type | Examples | Legal Min | Recommended | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Personal Watercraft (PWC) | Jet Ski, Sea-Doo, WaveRunner | 3 in | 3 in | Check local regulations; some states allow 2 in on PWC |
| Jon Boat / Flat-Bottom | Lund, Tracker, Alumacraft | 3 in | 3 in | Standard 3 in works well on smooth hull sides |
| Pontoon Boat | Harris, Sun Tracker, Bennington | 3 in | 4 in | Wider hull = more space; 4 in improves visibility |
| Fishing / Bass Boat | Bass Cat, Ranger, Nitro | 3 in | 3 in | Position above the waterline on the forward hull |
| Bowrider / Runabout | Four Winns, Bayliner, Chaparral | 3 in | 4 in | Higher speed = greater visibility benefit from 4 in |

| Center Console | Mako, Grady-White, Boston Whaler | 3 in | 4 in | Offshore use; reflective finish recommended |

“Ordered a pair of 3-inch black numbers for my bass boat. They arrived in two days, applied perfectly, and passed my TPWD inspection without any issues. The vinyl quality is noticeably better than what I got from a local print shop last year.”

“FWC stopped us on the first weekend out. The officer said they looked great and actually asked where I got them. The pair sits perfectly on both sides with zero bubbles. I used the squeegee included in the kit and it went on in under 10 minutes.”

Pontoon Boat — Sun Tracker Party Barge 22

“I run offshore a lot and needed reflective numbers for early morning trips. The reflective white on dark-blue hull pair looks incredible and makes us way more visible. Have had them on for 14 months with zero edge lifting despite constant saltwater exposure.”

2019 Boston Whaler 270 Dauntless

“Surprisingly easy process. Entered my MI number, chose the size, previewed it, and ordered. The pair came exactly as shown in the preview. They've survived a full summer season of trailering and wake jumping without peeling.”

Jet Ski — Sea-Doo GTX 170

“Old boat, gel coat a bit rough, but these stuck like glue after a quick wipe-down with the prep solution. Four stars only because I wish shipping was a day faster — but the quality absolutely earns five stars. Will buy again next registration cycle.”

1987 Bayliner Capri

“Third time ordering from this site. Reliable, fast, and the best marine vinyl I've found at this price point. The two-color pair I got — black fill with white outline — looks way more professional than the plain numbers competitors sell.”

“These numbers look factory-installed. My wife thought I paid a marina to put them on. The registration number format was 100% correct for Georgia right out of the customizer — no guessing required.”
